TTW take all legal and ethical responsibilities seriously. Below is a copy of our contract, as well as a breakdown concerning copyright within publications, and how donations are collected.

  • Issue 0 - The Environment - Specifically with regards to the understanding ISSUE 0 is a free, online template that represents the future of the Magazine. It is a mini version of the full magazine.

    Regarding the charity, Friends of the Earth: This is a free trial run of the magazine. Its purpose lies more-so in portfolio than in profit. Therefore, the magazine is free and under confirmation from the charity, no money for the charity has been raised by this issue. They are aware that no money has been raised, and agreed to collaborate with the magazine knowing that they would not be receiving donations, instead functioning as an example within the magazine.

    Regarding copyright photography: No charitable donation or profit has been made from this online issue. The photos have either been taken by Lyra Auld and are licensed under her copyright, or permission has been granted to use photos available on the Website. Should the photos not be taken by Miss Auld, a link detailing the reference for the photo has been given and full credit has been given to the owner of the photograph. All photos have been taken from open websites as appose to sourced from single photographers. Miss Auld does not claim to own any of these photos.

    Regarding the recommendations: The recommendations given are from student collaborators of the Magazine. Appropriate links to the websites have been given. Whilst they are not formal collaborators of the magazine, the links contain no copyright content other than the brief explanations that are available online to the public. This is to ensure we are not copying content, whilst representing the recommendations correctly. Due to being a free, unofficial, online publication we have received no endorsements from the recommendations we have published.

  • With regards to photography and copyright: The photos have either been taken by Lyra Auld and are licensed under her copyright, or permission has been granted to use photos available on the Website. Should the photos not be taken by Miss Auld, a link detailing the reference for the photo has been given and full credit has been given to the owner of the photograph. All photos have been taken from open websites as appose to sourced from single photographers. Miss Auld does not claim to own any of these photos. TTW are obligated to ensure that should photos that are used not belong to TTW, the collaborator must agree to the below terms.

    (They) agree that they will provide TTW the images and that TTW is not liable to you for any loss or damages suffered due to the use of the Images as the images are provided.

    TTWS obligation towards towards the collaborator involves highlighting when a photo was used with permission from those being interviewed - with the below restrictions and acknowledgments:

    They may only use the images for their own commercial or non-commercial use.

    They are allowed to resell, redistribute, transfer or sublicense the images to a third party and represent themselves as the original copyright owner of an image.

    They are allowed to use the images for print advertising purposes.

    The Images cannot be used in an illegal, offensive, defamatory, racist or pornographic context or manner or in a way or context that violates any applicable laws, regulations and industry codes, e.g. for protection or sports content, and they may not include the image in whole or in part in a logo, trademark, service mark etc.

    The images will only be used in editorial content with proper crediting of the photographer(s).

    TTW may crop and color adapt the images, but only in accordance with applicable industry standards.

    With regards to publication in line with our values: TTW will not withdraw content if the collaborator decides that TTWM does not align with their values. It is the role of the collaborator to understand our ethos before publication. TTWM has no requirement to make this explicit before an interview.

    With regards to content written by TTWM: Publications made by TTWM align with the IPSO code of conduct, which include rules regarding privacy and consent. TTWM are not subscribed to IPSO, however we use their ethos as a template for our publications. Information can be found here - Editors code of practice. TTWM agrees to source all of their own personal content should it be a piece regarding fact.

    With regards to profits made from the Magazine: TTWM agrees to invoice about everyone donation made and be completely transparent and honest with the donations given for the magazine. TTWM is non profit, with donations aside from those made specifically through our own donation portal, all going straight to the charity that has been listed. We agree to keep none of the donations made. We understand that the method of payment is for ease, and not for our own personal financial benefit.

    With regards to taxation of the Magazine and copyright: TTWM has all rights to the name Take The Wheel Magazine as well as full copyright of all our own content. The nature of the Magazine is a University project; It is not a business or a charity. Therefore we are not required to pay any fees other than for the domain of which we have copyright.

    With regards to Publication of a magazine: TTWM does not claim to be an official tabloid. It is a student project. Therefore, we hold no culpability for the factuality of content we publish, despite ethically sourcing and siting all of our information.

    With regards to similarities to other Magazines: TTWM claims to have no similarities to other published and established magazines. Any design similarities are coincidental. All interviews are sourced directly by Miss Auld, therefore no content from other magazines will have been copied.

  • The buyer acknowledges that they are not eligible for a refund after purchase

    The buyer understands that TTW does not take any profit from the sales of the magazine*. All of the profits made go to the relevant charity through a personalised payment plan scheme. Take The Wheel does not use profits to fund the magazine.
